389 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND MOLOY, Earl Garnet Earl was born in Thedford, Bosanquet Township, Ontario on February 28, 1897. He enlisted in the Army in May 1918 and served in Canada with the 1st Depot Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force during World War I. He was discharged on January 18, 1919. He married, raised a family and farmed near Forest, Ontario. Earl passed away in 1963. MOORE, Everett “Albert” Albert was born on February 27, 1918 in Fergus, Ontario. He enlisted in the Air Force on October 20, 1941. He was sent to England as a spitfire electrician and posted to the first all Canadian Air Force Wing. Being a first line air field, they were quickly advanced to France, Brussels, Louvain and Grave, Holland as the Germans retreated. He was transferred to the motor transport and moved into Nistelrode, Holland on December 5, 1944. He made friends with a local family and stayed in contact with them until his passing on March 19, 1999. In late February 1945, the unit moved across the Rhine and into Germany and were stationed in Wunstorf until VE day. He arrived back in Canada in late October and was discharged in early December 1945. Albert visited Nistelrode again in better times in 1989 and 1995. His memoirs have been published by the history museum in Nistelrode, Holland. He was a 45-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 234. MONKS, Edward Harry Edward was born in London, Ontario on March 10, 1919. He enlisted in the Navy on July 28, 1941 joining Active Service in anti-submarine and escort duty in St. Laurence and Atlantic Canada with the RCNVR. He served on HMCS, Stadacona, HMCS Sambro, HMCSVenture, HMCS Protector, HMCS Gaspe, HMCS Chaleur, HMCS Fort Ramsay, HMCS Scotia, HMCS Peregrine, HMCS Prevost, and HMCS Cornwallis on Fairmile Motor Launches Q053, Q058, Q059 and Q064 during which time he advanced from Stoker 1 to Senior Petty Officer and Motor Mechanics. He was discharged on August 14, 1945. Upon leaving the Navy, he became a motor mechanic in London, Ontario. He left London and moved to Windsor and ran a successful electrical contracting business. He and his wife, Alice, raised three daughters. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Riverside Branch 255. Edward passed away on December 14, 2003.
