371 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND McPARLAN, Frederick Louis “Fred” Fred was born in Perth, Ontario on November 18, 1925. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Flight Engineer in 1943. He flew on Avro Lancaster Bomber in 1944 and was discharged in 1945. He received the Flight Engineer Badge as well as the RCAF Reserve Badge. Fred was a Bridgemaster in Perth, Ontario for one year until his sudden death on May 4, 1947. McPHEE, Archie Donald Archie was born on June 11, 1898 in West Williams, Parkhill, Ontario, the son of Neil and Maggie McPhee. Archie enlisted in the Army on September 11, 1916 and arrived in England in October 1916 with the A.M.C. training Depot. Archie served in France in March 1918 he was wounded by gun shot to his left leg on August 8, 1918 with the 58th Battalion. He arrived back home to Canada on the SSAquitania being discharged on January 25, 1919. Archie married Mabel McErlane and they moved to Detroit, Michigan. Archie passed away on May 23, 1982 and is buried at the Grand Lawn Cemetery. McPARLAN, Philip Joseph Philip was born in Stanleyville, Ontario on August 31, 1887. He enlisted in the Army on January 15, 1916 and served with the (12th) 130 CEF Battalion, Canadian Army Medical Corps at Vimy Ridge, Ypres and Passchendaele during World War I. He received the 130 Regimental Badge for 130th Battalion, British War Medal and Victory Medal (Inter-Allied Medal). He was discharged from service on June 23, 1919. Philip was a Knight of Columbus and a Bridgemaster in Perth, Ontario for 22 years. He created the Perth Flag Garden on the Tay. He was a resident of Perth for 59 years and was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Perth-UponTay Branch 244. Philip passed away on March 17, 1946.
