He enlisted in the Air Force on September 20, 1941 during World War II joining the RCAF 426 Thunderbird Squadron, their motto was ‘On Wings of Fire’. George was flying aircraft #HE 157 when it went missing during a night air operation against Duisburg, Germany on May 13, 1943. The entire crew of five was killed. Flying Officer McMillan and the other crew members are buried at the Canadian War Cemetery Bergen-op-Zoom in Holland. McNEIL, Michael Joseph Michael was born on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia on June 23, 1910 and moved to Windsor, Ontario at the age of nineteen and secured employment at Chrysler. At the age of 32, he enlisted for service in the Canadian Army in 1942. He took part in the Allied invasion of Sicily and Italy. He sustained a gunshot wound near Ortona in December 1943. He recovered and was back in action for the remainder of the Italian campaign, then on to Northwest Europe. He returned to Canada in September 1945 and was discharged on November 13, 1945. He married and had three children. Michael passed away on September 8, 1967. McNAUGHTON, Donald Malcolm Donald was born on March 7, 1934, in Perth, Ontario. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1952, serving in different units such as the F15 439 Squadron, Army Staff College Mobile Command, 10 Tag Air Command and NORAD serving in Canada, France, Middle East, England, and United States of America. During his career, Lieutenant General McNaughton was a pilot, flying instructor, Squadron Commander, Base Commander, Group Commander, Commander of the RCAF, and Deputy Commander of NORAD, North America Air Defence Command, being discharged in 1989. Donald received the Commander of Military Medal, NATO, Peacekeeper, UN, Queen Elizabeth, Confederation, Canadian Decoration with Two Bars, and the US Congressional Medal. Donald passed away on June 26, 2019.
