367 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND McLEAN, Scott Leroy Scott was born on December 7, 1923, inWindsor, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army on September 1, 1942, with the Duke ofYork’s Royal Canadian Hussars and served in Canada, England, and Northwestern Europe. Scott received the 1939-1945 Star, France and Germany Star, Defence Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp, and War Medal 1939-1945. Upon his return to civilian life in 1945, Scott farmed near the Moncrieff, Ontario and later moved to Listowel where he worked as a carpenter until his retirement. Scott passed away on November 27, 2003. McLEOD, John Earl John was born on February 7, 1894 in Tobermory, Ontario. He enlisted with the Army Regular Force on December 10, 1915 joining the 47th Battalion. John was killed in action in France on April 19, 1917 and is buried at the Pas-de-Calais, France. He is remembered at the Vimy Memorial. McLEISH, Kenneth Grant Kenneth was born in Middlesex County, West Williams Township, Ontario on August 27, 1917. He enlisted in the Canadian Army (Active) at London, Ontario on January 7, 1942 and served in Canada and the United Kingdom during World War II. During his time in the United Kingdom, he served as a Sergeant in the Mechanical Transport Section of No. 1 Coy., RCEME. Kenneth came home from overseas on RMS Scythia and discharged on March 14, 1946. Upon his return to Civil Life (on demobilization) on March 14, 1946, he returned home to his wife Eva and daughter Sheila. Kenneth earned a living as a mechanic, working throughout Lambton and Middlesex counties specializing (for the most part) in the repair and maintenance of Massey Ferguson farm equipment. He was a faithful member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 278 in Thedford, Ontario, and was a Past President of the Branch. Kenneth passed away on July 10, 1983 and is buried in Arkona, Ontario.
