353 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND McAFEE, Orville Oburn Orville McAfee was born in Richmond, Ontario on February 8, 1919. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps in Ottawa on November 20, 1941 where he qualified in the trade of Fitter. After serving in Canada, the United Kingdom, Central MediterraneanArea, and Continental Europe, he was discharged on February 9, 1946. He was awarded the 1939-1945 Star, Italy Star, France and Germany Star, and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. Following his discharge, he lived in Cochrane, Ontario, worked for the RCAF in Gander Newfoundland, and eventually moved to Milton, Ontario where he worked for Ontario Steel. Orville was a 30-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Milton Branch 136 and passed away in February 1998. McCLELLAN, C. “Frank” Frank was born in Chatham, Ontario on December 28, 1909. He enlisted in the Army on September 14, 1939 during World War II and was assigned to the First Hussars 6th Canadian Regiment and discharged on September 14, 1945. His service included Canada, England, France, Belgium, and Germany and he achieved the rank of Sergeant. He was presented the following medals for his service: 19391945 Star, France and Germany Star, Defence Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Bar, and the War Medal 1939-1945. Following his discharge, he returned to his hometown of Wheatley, Ontario where he was a charter member of The Royal Canadian Legion Wheatley Branch 324. After moving to Windsor, he transferred his membership to the Ambassador Branch 143 and received a Life Membership in 1959, MSM in 1962, and served as District A Commander in 1953. Frank passed away at the age of 83 on February 28, 1993 in Belmont, Ontario. McCALL, William James William was born on November 16, 1914, in Walton, Ontario. He went to public school in Walton, and High School in Clinton. He attended Teachers College and taught school north of Blyth for three years prior to enlisting in the army in 1941. Following his basic training he was stationed in Moncton, New Brunswick. His departure overseas in 1943 was delayed due to laryngitis but not so sick that he couldn’t go to a dance where he met his future wife, and married a year later in September 1944. Released from the service in 1945, the couple returned to Ontario and bought a farm outside of the village of Blyth. William passed away on December 22, 1993.
