351 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND MATHERS, Charles William Charles was born on April 12, 1895 in West Williams Township, Parkhill, Ontario. He was the son of Abraham and Mary Mathers. Charles enlisted in the Army on December 28, 1915, joining the 135th Battalion and the 60th Battalion Canadian Infantry. He sailed on the SS Olympic to England in August 1916. Charles was transferred to the 125th Battalion and served in France with the 87th Battalion and discharged in February 1919. Charles passed away in 1977 and is buried at the Sylvan Cemetery in West Williams. MAYBERRY, William William was born in 1892 in Sheffield, England. He worked in the Arkona area and enlisted in the Army on November 19, 1915. He served with 10th T.M. Battery of the Canadian Field Artillery in England and in France during World War I. William was wounded in the left arm and leg and was hospitalized for weeks. He passed away on December 1, 1917 and is buried in the Abbeville Cemetery in France. MAWSON, William “Wilson” Wilson was born on July 6, 1894 in McGillivray Township, Parkhill, Ontario, the son of John and Agnes Mawson. He was a farmer and construction worker. Wilson enlisted in the Army in June 1918 joining the 7th Field, Canadian Engineers. He served in France, England and Canada and was discharged in July 1919. Wilson returned home, later moved to Rochester, New York, USA. Wilson passed away on April 5, 1971 and is buried at the Riverside Cemetery in Rochester New York, USA.
