341 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND MacLEAN, Allan Duncan Allan was born on December 26, 1888, in Wolseley, Saskatchewan. He resided in Brussels, Ontario in February 1916. He enlisted in the Army on February 28, 1916 and served with the Canadian Infantry, Central Ontario. Allan was wounded in France at Le Touquet on July 26, 1917 and convalesced at Etaples. He returned to active service and was seriously wounded on September 4, 1917. He passed away on September 8, 1917. MacRAE (EASTMAN), Ethel Alice Ethel was born on May 31, 1924 in Mille Roches Cornwall Center, Ontario. She enlisted with the Canadian Women’s Army Corps on April 14, 1943. She spent the entire war years in Canada and was discharged on October 9, 1945. After the war she married Thomas William MacRae and together they had three children: Heather (Latto), Constance (Lumley), and Thomas. They resided in Richmond Hill while Ethel worked for a number of years as the bake shop manager in the original Loblaws store in Richmond Hill and also participated in the store move to the first big indoor mall, Hillcrest, in the area. Ethel and her husband Thomas were avid five pin bowlers and over the years won many trophies and awards. She was an active member for many years of the Ladies Auxiliary of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 375 in Richmond Hill. Ethel passed away on May 1, 1986 and is interred in the Veteran’s section of Elgin Mills Cemetery in Richmond Hill. MacPHERSON, W.M. George W.M. George was born on September 24, 1893 in McGillivray Township, Parkhill, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army on January 7, 1916. He joined the 135th Battalion and his unit sailed on the SS Olympic in August 1916. He was transferred to the 125th Battalion in England. In France, he served with the Canadian Infantry Central Ontario Regiment 4th Battalion. George died from his wounds on December 21, 1917 and is buried at the Bath Cemetery, Somerset, United Kingdom. George’s name is on the War Memorial in West McGillivray.
