315 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND LAWRIE, Percy Clarence Percy was born on March 21, 1896 in Orono, Clarke, Ontario. His family lived near Thedford, Ontario. Percy worked in Harriston as a banker prior to his enlistment on December 15, 1916 with the 64th Battalion, Canadian Field Artillery. He sailed from Halifax on SS Megantic on November 26, 1917 arriving in England on December 7, 1917. He served in England, France and Belgium during World War I. Percy had jaundice on February 13, 1919. On May 7, 1919, he sailed home on the Celtic and was discharged on May 17, 1919. LEACH, Weldon Courtney Weldon was born in Pembroke, Ontario on May 3, 1939. On September 11, 1956 Weldon joined the Navy. His basic training was in Cornwall. Weldon served on a Destroyer, the HMCS Mic Mac; a gate vessel, the HMCS Port St. Jean and a frigate, the HMCS Outremont. He worked as a stoker (engineering mechanic) in the boiler rooms and engine rooms. He spent time in England, the Baltic Sea, around the Caribbean and the East Coast of Canada. He was discharged on September 11, 1961. He got married and had three daughters. He is now retired and lives in Windsor. He is a proud ten-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 255. LAWSON, William Owen William was born on March 17, 1923 in Windsor, Ontario. In 1940, he enlisted with the Army duringWorldWar II and served as a medic with the 48th Highlanders in Sicily. He was discharged from service in 1943. William was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Col. John McCrae Memorial Branch 234 in Guelph, Ontario. William passed away in July 1990.
