311 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND LANCEMAN, David Julian David was born in London, England on April 20, 1928. He enlisted in the Royal Air Force on November 7, 1946. He served in Singapore until his release on February 10, 1949. David is a three-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 638 in Kanata, Ontario, where he currently resides. LANGLOIS, Gerard “Gerry” Gerald was born in Eastern Township (Magog), Quebec on November 18, 1919. He was part of a large family with eleven siblings. Gerry enlisted with the Army in 1943 and was with the Kingston Medical Corps. He served during World War II in France, Belgium, and Holland with the often difficult task of moving the dead and wounded soldiers from the battlefield. When they were not actively in battle, Gerry and his army buddies enjoyed playing hockey on the frozen lakes in Belgium and Holland or sipping Calvados in the pubs when he served in France. On demobilization, Gerry was honourably discharged in 1946 and settled in St. Catharines, Ontario. He met Kathleen (Kay) Jones and he won her hand. They were married on September 24, 1949 and created a family of six. They had three daughters, twins, Ann and Paulette, andWendy and a son, Peter. He attended Trade School and became a Plumber and worked as a Steamfitter/Plumber until his retirement. At the age of 89, Gerry passed away on February 24, 2008 and his ashes are at the Church of Transfiguration in St. Catharines. LANDERYOU, Arthur Thomas Arthur was born on April 13, 1895 in London, England. He later came to Canada in 1907 at the age of 11 on the ship Dominion as a Home Child. Arthur lived near Thedford, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army on January 22, 1916 and sailed on the SS Lapland to Bramshott, England on March 28, 1917. He served during World War I in France with the 18th Battalion. He was later hospitalized with trench fever and then the flu. He returned to Canada on the Saturnia and was discharged on August 8, 1919. Arthur farmed then lived in Arkona, Ontario. He passed away and is buried at Grandview Resurrection Cemetery in Sarnia, Ontario.
