281 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND JENNETT, Lloyd Arthur Lloyd was born in Vasey, Ontario on March 3, 1922, the first of fourteen siblings in the family of Arthur and Jane Elizabeth Jennett. On September 15, 1942, he enlisted in Toronto with the Army to serve with the Royal Canadian Armoured Corps. He was twenty years old and single. He listed his trade as mechanic and claimed no previous military experience. Trooper Jennett trained as a tank gunner at the Canadian Armoured Corps Training Centre at Camp Borden, Ontario before sailing to England to arrive on April 4, 1945. He then landed in France on July 22, 1944 with the 21st Canadian Armoured Regiment (Governor General’s Foot Guards). He was promoted to Lance Corporal on June 5, 1944. Lance Corporal Jennett was killed in action on October 21, 1944. He is buried at Bergen-op-Zoom CanadianWar Cemetery in The Netherlands. He earned the 1939-1945 Star, France and Germany Star, Defence Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and the War Medal 1939-1945. JOHNSTON, Louis Wilbert Louis was born on September 27, 1912, in North Orillia Township, Ontario. He enlisted on August 25, 1942, with the Canadian Army. He received his training in Brantford and Petawawa. Unfortunately, he was unable to meet the required military physical standards and was discharged on June 30, 1944. Louis returned home and married Marjorie MacArthur and together they had ten children. They lived inWoodbridge for a few years and then moved to a farm in the township then to Johnston home farm at Uhthoff. Louis also worked at the Huronia Regional Center in Orillia for years before his retirement. Louis and his wife moved in with their eldest son in Warminister, Ontario until his passing on August 3, 1998. JOHNSON, Percy Percy was born on December 2, 1897 in Parkhill, Ontario, the son of John and Annie Johnson. Percy enlisted in the Army on July 3, 1917, joining the 1st Battalion, Canadian Garrison Regiment. He served in Canada until his discharge in March 1919. Percy passed away in 1960 and is buried at Paris Cemetery in Paris, Ontario.
