271 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND HOWE, Ernest James Ernest was born in Bucklow, England on February 19, 1912, the son of Ernest and Sarah (Tange) Howe of Manchester, England. He resided in Apple Hill, Ontario prior to enlisting in the Royal Canadian Air Force on February 5, 1940 in Calgary, Alberta. He received the War Medal 1939-1945 and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. Ernest passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital in Montreal, Quebec on October 10, 1947. His death was related to service. Ernest is buried at the Montreal (Mount Royal) Cemetery in Quebec. He was married to H. Stennetta Howe of Montreal. His son was born on December 3, 1947, after his death. HUGHSON, Eric George Eric was born in Sheguiandah Township, Ontario on February 25, 1924. He enlisted in the Army on September 16, 1941 and served with the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry during World War II. Eric was killed in action on August 12, 1944 at the Falaise Pocket. HOWE, Nevaida Nevaida was born in Bethune, Saskatchewan on December 13, 1933. She enlisted in the Regular Air Force on April 2, 1952 and was an administrative officer with the Army Cadet Corp 2353 Thessalon Branch in 1981-1982. She took up residence in Levack, Ontario in 1989. Nevaida was discharged on July 31, 1953. After service, Nevaida furthered her education and served on executives at Branches 579 (now disbanded), 110, 351, 182 and 503 of The Royal Canadian Legion. She coached curling to juniors and curled in branch competitions in provincials (seniors) at Branch 351 in Montgomery and Branch 503 in Onaping Falls. Nevaida is now a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 503.
