259 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND HERON, Adoniram “Sheldon” Sheldon was born on February 25, 1889 in Feversham, Ontario. On March 8, 1916, he enlisted with the Army during World War I and served with the 5th Motor Transport in Canada, England, and France. He was discharged on June 16, 1919. Sheldon passed away in March 1979. HERRINGTON, Ross Grant Ross was born on February 8, 1895 inWest Williams Township, Middlesex County, the son of Jacob and Mary Herrington. He enlisted in the Army on June 1, 1917, joining the 25th Reserve No. 1 Training Depot, Western Ontario Regiment. He served in England in August 1917. Ross was in hospital several times with health issues, mumps. Ross returned on the Saturnia, discharged in August 1919. He married Marion Donaldson and returned to farming. Ross passed away and is buried at the Arkona Cemetery. HERON, Kenneth Kenneth was born on March 4, 1922 in Toronto, Ontario. During World War II, Kenneth enlisted on June 15, 1942 with the Royal Canadian Air Force and served with 420 Squadron. On his 29th mission, he crashed into the North Sea in Europe on July 25, 1944, trying to get back to base. All were killed, two were buried in Holland and Kenneth and four others were not found.
