233 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND GREAVES-RUDGE, Frederick Ronald Frederick was born on December 26, 1910 in Belper, Derby, England. He enlisted with the Navy in 1940 duringWorldWar II, joining the 17th /21st Lancers. He served with distinction at the Battle of El Alamein in North Africa and in Italy, Greece, and the Middle East until his discharge in 1946. He had strong family connection to the town of Aurora, Ontario. Frederick passed away on December 12, 1990. GREEN, Roy Henry Roy was born in Port Franks, Bosanquet Township, Ontario on June 19, 1896. He joined the Royal Canadian Regiment on August 23, 1915 and trained in Canada. He sailed to England and arrived in Boulogne, France on November 1, 1915. He was ill in July 1916 and was reported missing in October 1918 in France. He was hospitalized for four weeks due to shrapnel wounds in his left arm and in his upper lip and was sent back to England. Roy was awarded the Military Medal and sailed back to Canada on HMT Canada. He was discharged on March 21, 1919. GREEN, Haley Elgin Haley was born on August 7, 1898 in Parkhill, Ontario, McGillivray Township. He was the son of William and Hannah Green. Haley enlisted in the Army on May 18, 1918 joining the 2nd Battalion Canadian Engineers. He arrived in England in August 1918 on the SS Saturnia and landed in France on September 17, 1918. Haley was killed in action on October 7, 1918 in France. He is buried at the Etaples Military Cemetery in France. Haley Elgin Green’s name is on the War Memorial in West McGillivray.
