211 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND FOSTER, Frank Albert Frank was born on September 10, 1896 in East Gwillimbury, Ontario and resided in Holland Landing. He enlisted in the Army on December 18, 1915 and served with the 177th Battery OS BN CEF in Canada during World War I. He was sent for training at Camp Borden and sent home due to being medically unfit on August 11, 1916 and discharged effective on that date. Frank passed away on January 6, 1966. FOURNIER, Raoul Joseph “Ray” Ray was born in Ottawa, Ontario on June 20, 1920. While living in Timmins, Ontario and working in the mines, he decided to enlist in the Army on August 28, 1941 at the age of 21. Less than eight months later he was on his way overseas to the United Kingdom where he served with the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps first as a Bren gunner then cook until the end of World War II. Ray participated with the Canadian Forces in the liberation of Europe. His tours of duty after the war saw him serve in the Korean War as well as tours in Cyprus, Werl, Germany, Picton, Gagetown, Valcartier, Ipperwash, and finally Ottawa where he retired as MWO running the famous Headquarters Beaver Barracks kitchen. He was discharged on August 18, 1972. Post-war, Ray continued serving in the Corps of Commissionaires and was also a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 351 for over ten years. Raoul passed away on May 18, 1994. FOUNTAIN, Gordon Lees Gordon was born on June 10, 1897 in Parkhill, Ontario, the son of John and Isabel Fountain. He enlisted in the Army on November 29, 1915 and joined the 135th Battalion. He sailed on the SS Olympic to England in August 1916. Gordon was transferred to the 125th Battalion and he served in France in May 1917. He was discharged on June 9, 1919. He was married to Minnie Spearing. Gordon passed away in 1965 and is buried at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Amherstburg, Ontario.
