He immigrated to Canada in 1911, and during his voyage, he met Emma Bridle and one year later they married. They resided in Tillsonburg, Ontario for some time before moving to Woodstock. Since he was in the reserves in England, Private Williams returned to England when war was declared. His Guard unit was deeply involved in the first Battle ofYpres. James was killed in action on October 26, 1914 in Ypres, France. WILLIAMSON, Hilton Hilton was born on September 13, 1890, the son of Emma (Beard) and James Williamson of Jarrat, fifteen kilometers south of Coldwater, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army with the 46th Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force, in Regina, Saskatchewan on November 1, 1915 during World War I. He was 24 years old and single. Private Hilton Williamson sailed on the SS Lapland on October 21, 1915 and disembarked nine days later at Devonport, England. After training (and fighting influenza) in England, he finally joined his frontline infantry unit, the 3rd Battalion (Toronto Regiment), in France on June 19, 1916. Private Williamson was killed in action on October 9, 1916 in the area of the Somme. No details are available as to the circumstances of his death. Private Hilton Williamson is buried at Adanac Military Cemetery in Somme, France. WILLIAMS, James Wilbert “Jimmy” James was born on November 25, 1897 in Liverpool, England. As a young man, Jimmy immigrated to Canada and while living at a Toronto address, he enlisted in the 216th O.S. Battalion, Bantams, Canadian Expeditionary Force. On October 22, 1917 for WWI. After serving in Canada, France, and Belgium he was discharged on April 11, 1919. Eventually Jimmy moved to Stokes Bay, Ontario and became a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Lion’s Head Branch 202. While living in Wiarton, Ontario, on June 22, 1992, Jimmy died and is buried in the Edgehill Cemetery, Coploy’s Bay, Ontario.
