467 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND WEAVER, Frederick George “Fred” Fred was born on January 26, 1937 in Tillsonburg, Ontario. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Engineers on February 10, 1958 and served in Chilliwack, BC; Gagetown, NB and 4 FD SQN in Germany for three years. Fred was also the first Canadian combat diver. He was discharged on April 2, 1967. After the Army, Fred was a mechanic and for 28 years he was a pilot. Fred passed at the age of 82 on May 26, 2019. WEBSTER, Robert Sr. Robert Senior was born in Hamilton, Ontario in the 1890’s. He joined the Army there at the start of World War I. He fought most notably with the Black Watch at the Gallipoli in Turkey and later became President of the Gallipoli Association of Hamilton, Ontario. At the end of World War I, he joined the Hamilton Street Railway. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion. Robert passed away in 1962. WEBER, Clayton M. Clayton was born on April 30, 1892 in Wallace, Ontario to Ezra and Catherine Weber. He worked as a bookkeeper prior to his service in World War I. Clayton joined the military on April 24, 1916 and was assigned to the 118th Battalion. He was hospitalized in London, Ontario on November 11 with Rheumatism and discharged from the hospital on December 4. He transferred to the #1 Special Service Coy on December 31; promoted to Corp. on March 23; promoted to Sergeant on April 17, 1917; appointed as Orderly Room Sergeant on October 16 and due to re-occurring Rheumatism was discharged as medically unfit for general service on August 9, 1918. Clayton was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Kitchener Branch 50 and Waterloo Branch 530. Clayton M. Weber passed away in 1977 and his name has been inscribed on plaque #2 of the Waterloo Legions Veteran Memorial Wall.
