463 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND WARING, Joshua Robert “Josh” Josh was born in Pembroke, Ontario, on June 15, 1984. Growing up in a Military Family, he experienced CFB Petawawa, CFB Calgary, and CFB Lahr in Germany. Josh joined 22 Service Battalion in London in March 2002, and trained as MSE OP. He deployed to Petawawa in September 2009 for pre deployment training and on completion served in Afghanistan from April to November 2010 at Forward Operating Base Wilson, Patrol Bas Shoja and at Kandahar. During this time, he was employed as a Heavy Truck driver on the resupply convoys as well as operating other heavy equipment inclusive of fuel truck, the Rough Terrain Container Handler and other Support Equipment. In his spare time, he off loaded resupply helicopters, stood guard, was a firefighter and did electrical installations. Josh was discharged in December 2011. Shortly after his return fromAfghanistan, Josh was awarded his Electricians Journeyman License and started his own Electrical Business in 2018. Josh is a six-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Vimy Branch 145. WARING, Robert Albert “Bob” Robert was born in London, Ontario on May 20, 1957. He initially joined London Militia Service Battalion as a driver wearing the Service Corps cap badge in May 1974. He converted to the Logistics Badge and became an MSE OP when the Militia rebadged. After a United Nations tour to Egypt with UNEF 2 he transferred to the Regular Force. Following a short period of time as an NCO he was selected for Officer Training and commissioned as a Logistics Transportation Officer. His postings included several tours of 1 Canadian Brigade Group and the Special Service Force as well as Canadian Forces Europe. He was discharged in December 2005. Upon retirement, Bob carried on in Logistics and Aviation, notably with the United Nations and as a Defence Contractor. Bob has served with United Nations missions in Egypt, Cyprus, the formerYugoslavia, Angola and Haiti. He also served three and a half years with the African Union as they sought to end the genocide in Darfur. He has war service during the Persian Gulf War and another five years in Afghanistan. Bob commenced a two-year tour as President of Vimy Branch 145 of The Royal Canadian Legion in November 2018. WARING, Richard Alexander Richard was born in Glasgow, Scotland on March 3, 1948. He enlisted in September 1972 served as a reserve logistic officer from 1972 to 2003. During that time, after leaves of absence due to civilian employment commitments, he was able to serve a total of 23 years. He began his reserve career with 51 Bataillon des Service Montreal and ended with 22 London Service Battalion. Between both units he filled most staff and field positions available to a transport officer, especially enjoying and learning from commanding the Transport Company and the Administration Company. He valued the courses, both reserve and regular, that he was able to take and benefitted from the opportunities to practice the skills taught during his time in garrison and in the field. As a part-time Soldier, he saw the Reserve Army as an important component of Canada’s Military and still appreciates the opportunity the Reserve Army gave him to serve his adopted country. He ended his career as the CO of 22 London Service Battalion. Richard was discharged in March 2003. He is a five-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Vimy Branch 145.
