He joined the Army in February 1943 and served in the North Atlantic area and Canada. John qualified as a Class III Gunner and served as a cook in Gander, Newfoundland from November 1943 to April 1946. John was discharged in May 1946. Returning to civilian life, he married his wife Emma and raised three children. He worked at the INCO refinery for 33 years. John passed away November 13, 2004. WALDEN, John Clerke John was born in Bosanquet Township, Thedford, Ontario, on February 26, 1914. He enlisted with the Pictou Highlanders onApril 27, 1943 and served duringWorld War II. His service brought him England and Canada and was discharged on January 29, 1945 on demobilization. He was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. John passed away on June 4, 1990. WALDECK, Charles Elmer Charles was born in Norwich, Ontario on December 28, 1909. He and his wife were living in Tillsonburg, Ontario when he enlisted in the Army. He served in England during World War II. Charles was a member of the Royal Canadian Artillery Corps when he passed away on January 22, 1942 of pulmonary tuberculosis while serving in England. He was 32 years of age.
