437 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND THOMAS, William Private William Thomas was born in Ontario on January 7, 1897. He enlisted in the Army in 1914 and served in the Canadian Active Infantry in England and France during World War I until his discharge in 1918. William passed away on April 23, 1955. THOMPSON, Cecil Sanford Cecil was born in Amherst, Nova Scotia on July 12, 1931. He enlisted in the Regular Force on April 17, 1949 and served with the Navy in Korea and on the High Seas onboard HMCS Haida. After being discharged on April 17, 1954, Cecil worked for the Federal Public Service for thirty years until his retirement. He lives in Smiths Falls, Ontario and has been an active member of The Royal Canadian Legion Smiths Falls Branch 95 for twenty years. THOMAS, William George William was born on May 3, 1926 in Lansing, a neighbourhood in North York (Toronto), Ontario. He enlisted in the Army on January 23, 1945 and took basic training at Newmarket and advanced training in Petawawa. Private Thomas was on guard duty at German prisoner of war camps in Alberta. He was discharged on May 20, 1946.
