421 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND STEWART, Donald Burton Donald Stewart was born was born in Mount Albert, Ontario on January 17, 1920, to Grace and Roy Stewart. He was married to Doris G. Stewart. Donald enlisted on September 4, 1940 during World War II. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and was assigned to the 53 Squadron in England. Flying Officer Stewart was officially reported missing in the United Kingdom and assumed dead on October 4, 1943. He is buried in Runnymede Memorial in Surrey, United Kingdom, Grave 175. STONER, Ronald George Ronald was born in Arkona, Ontario on May 10, 1925. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy in 1942. His mother had signed a form to let him join before he was of actual age to join. His services took him to France and England aboard the HMCS Norsyd. Upon discharge in 1945, he married Lois Harrower and raised a son and daughter. He was a 65-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Theford Branch 278. He was also past president of the Parkhill Lions Club. He owned and operated “5 to 10 dime” store in Thedford. Ron passed away on October 21, 2011. STOCKIE, Gerald Alexander Gerald was born in Kitchener, Ontario on March 13, 1920, to William and Rose. He had three brothers, Ronald, Fabian and Cyril and one sister Lorraine. Gerald attended school at St. Joseph’s and St. Jerome’s. He enlisted with the Canadian Army in 1939 and served with the Tank Corps stationed in England. On July 9, 1946, Gerald boarded the MV Georgic in Liverpool headed for home, arriving in Halifax a week later. He returned to Waterloo after the war, where he married Alexandra. They had three children, Gary, Janet and Paul. Gerald was a Plant Manager, he also enjoyed cars and time at the cottage whenever he could. On January 28, 2006, Gerald passed away and is buried at Parkview Cemetery in Waterloo, Ontario.
