385 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND ROUSE, Harry Esmond Harry was born in Tillsonburg, Ontario on October 19, 1924. After high school, he was employed as a tobacco worker, apprentice machinist and swing saw operator before enlisting in the Army on September 14, 1943. Harry served in Caen, France during World War II. As a member of the North Shore (New Brunswick) Highlander Regiment, he landed on Juno Beach on June 10, 1944. One month later, on July 8, 1944, as they were attempting to take Caen, Harry was seriously wounded and died of his wounds at the age of nineteen. ROUTHIER, Roger Roger was born in Quebec City, Quebec on December 5, 1936. On October 6, 1953, he enlisted with the Army and served with the Royal CanadianArmy Service Corps. He served in Canada from October 1953 to November 25, 1956; Middle East from November 26, 1956 to May 11, 1958 and Canada from May 1958 to his discharge on October 31, 1958. Roger enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in November 1959 and served from January 26, 1960 until his honourable discharge on April 8, 1964. Roger was in Para Trooper Training in Rivers, Manitoba in November 1955 and did a Peacekeeping tour with the United Nations from November 1956 to May 1958 in Egypt. He has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 66 for ten years. ROUSE, John Thomas John was born in Lindsay Township, Bruce County on October 11, 1891. On July 3, 1916 he enlisted in the Army with the 228th Battalion during World War I and served in France. John was poisoned by Mustard Gas and spent some time in hospital. He was discharged on July 4, 1919. After returning home, John farmed in the Miller Lake area and worked as a blacksmith and carpenter. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Lion’s Head Branch 202. John passed away January 31, 1975.
