383 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND ROSE, Donald Pierre Joseph Donald was born in Espanola, Ontario, on July 10, 1964. He joined the CanadianArmed Forces on November 17, 1982 as a Radio Operator. The trade was renamed to Signal Operator, and in 2011, renamed toArmy Communication Information System Specialist. Throughout his distinguished career, he served in several units, mostly in Petawawa, including Special Service Force Headquarters and Signal Squadron, the 1 Royal Canadian Horse Artillery Lahr Germany, 2 Regiment Royal Canadian Horse Artillery, Royal Canadian Dragoons, 1st Battalion Royal Canadian Regiment, Canadian Forces Joint Signal Regiment Kingston, 3rd Battalion Royal Canadian Regiment, 1 Canadian Field Hospital, 705 Communication Squadron renamed to 31 Signal Regiment Hamilton, 2 Service Battalion and finished with 2nd Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group. Donald served in the Middle East in 1991, Cyprus in 1993, Bosnia in 1996, The Republic of Central Africa in 1999, Bosnia and Macedonia in 2001, and Task Force Afghanistan in 2003/2004. He received a 4 Brigade Commander Commendation, Top Non-Crewmen Master Corporal of the Year in 1999 and participated in the Nijmegen march in 2004. Upon discharge on July 20, 2014, Donald’s rank was Warrant Officer. He is a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Espanola Branch 39. ROSS, John Irvin John was born in Mount Albert, Ontario on November 17, 1918. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in May 1941. As F/L during World War II, he served in England and Canada in the Regular Force and was honorably discharged in July 1946. He met his wife Joan shortly after. She was also enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force and they became engaged in 1943. They married and have continued to live in Mount Albert. John was sworn-in to The Royal Canadian Legion Mount Albert Branch 382 on December 15, 1985. ROSS, Joan Louise Joan was born in Lennoxville, Quebec on July 15, 1921. She enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force (W.D.) during World War II on September 12, 1942. LAW Ross was sent to Trenton for training in accounting. She was stationed in Uplands and then was transferred toAir Force Headquarters in Ottawa. She was honourably discharged in January 1946. Joan was an active member of The Royal Canadian Legion Mount Albert Branch 382 for eight years, as well as an active member of the RCAF 429 Georgina Wing. She passed away on February 6, 2016.
