361 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND POTTS, George Albert George was born in Tara, Ontario on September 10, 1878 to James and Mary. He was a Railway Conductor before enlisting in World War I on November 5, 1915 in Battleford, Saskatchewan with the Army’s Saskatchewan Regiment #5 Battalion Infantry. He was later transferred to the 160th Bruce Battalion. While in France on outpost duty, Private George Potts died of his wounds from an enemy shell on November 25, 1917. Private Potts is buried in Bruay Communal Cemetery in Pasde-Calais, France. He received the Victory Medal and British War Medal which are on display at The Royal Canadian Legion Tara Branch 383. PRENTICE, Edwin Wayne Edwin was born in Windsor, Ontario, on August 5, 1941. He enlisted with the Army Reserves at Windsor Armouries in 1958 and served at Camp Borden followed by Ipperwash, Chatham and London. Edwin was passionate about drum, bugle and fife band. He believed the training was easier for him, being a bandman, they were easier on him. Going back to Windsor afforded lots of parades and training at the Armouries. Edwin was honourably discharged in 1961. He later married and they were blessed with six children, three boys and three girls. He worked as a truck driver, supervisor in construction and as a licensed welder. Edwin is a four-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Windsor Branch 255. POWER, Robert David Robert was born in Bell Island, Newfoundland on April 29, 1947. He entered the Canadian Armed Forces in St. John’s, Newfoundland on July 29, 1964. While in the military he served in the Royal Highland Regiment, The Black Watch. The Black Watch was disbanded in 1970 and he was transferred to the Royal Canadian Regiment. He remustered to the Canadian Military Engineers in 1972. He served in various bases and stations such as CFB Gagetown, CFB Edmonton, CFB Barrington, CFB St. John’s, CFB Halifax and CFB Ottawa. While at CFB Ottawa, he served a six-month tour at CFSAlert. He retired from the military in 1996, after 32 years of service. In civilian life, he worked at the Ottawa Airport in building maintenance for three and a half years, then as maintenance supervisor in a senior’s home and as a private contractor in building renovations. He retired from work at the age of sixty. Robert is a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 95 for 21 years.
