347 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND PARSONS, Daniel L. Daniel was born on January 29, 1930 in Cobourg, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army on September 3, 1953 with the 33rd Med. Battery. He served as Gunner, Bandsman and Bugler in Canada until his discharge on March 1, 1958. He then worked at Robson Lang Ltd. as a Purchase Agent. He is a Royal Canadian Legion Life Member of Cobourg Branch 133. PEARCE, John Benjamin John was born on December 2, 1924 in Clarenceville, Quebec. He enlisted in the Army on June 3, 1941 at the age of sixteen. The service unit he was under was the Lorne Scots – Peel Dufferin and Halton. John was discharged on February 6, 1943 due to an injury he suffered in England to his right arm. His right arm and shoulder were pinned between his troop truck and building wall. He received nerve and muscle injuries that rendered him with 25 percent permanent disability. Upon his discharge he went to Niagara Falls and was employed on the railroad and later with the municipality of Niagara. John passed away on September 22, 1976. PATTERSON, Gordon H. Gordon was born on August 14, 1895 in Warwick Township in Lambton County, Ontario. After graduating from Normal School, he moved to Western Canada and was employed as a teacher. He returned to Ontario and enlisted in the Canadian Army in 1914 during World War I, serving with the 33rd Battery CEF. Shortly after the beginning of war, his regiment was stricken by the flu epidemic. Gordon was training at an army camp near London, when he contracted the flu. He developed spinal meningitis and sadly passed away in his twentieth year on May 7, 1915. Private Gordon Patterson was buried with Military Honours in the Wisebeach Cemetery in Ontario.
