295 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND MATTHEWS, Harry Clifford Harry was born in Tillsonburg, Ontario on February 22, 1896. He was a still a student in Tillsonburg when he enlisted in the Army on February 12, 1915 in London, Ontario. He served with the Canadian Expeditionary Force, 2nd Canadian Mounted Rifles in France during World War I. While serving in France, on September 16, 1916, Harry was killed while taking part in the attack at Mouquet farm, Courcelette by enemy shell fire. McADAM, Ralph Ralph was born in West Williams Township, Ontario on May 27, 1922. He joined the Canadian Army Corps duringWorldWar II and was stationed at Camp Borden. Unfortunately, while awaiting transfer with his regiment for overseas combat, Trooper McAdam was killed as a result of a collision between his armoured tank and a passenger train. Ralph passed away on November 23, 1942 and is buried at the Arkona Cemetery in Arkona, Ontario. MATTOCKS, Wilfred E. H. “Bill” Bill was born on January 15, 1915 in London, England. He served during World War I with the Cape Breton Highlanders in Italy he was wounded in action in October 1944. Bill was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Acton Branch 197 and a Past President of Burlington Branch 60. Bill resided in Burlington, Ontario from 1958 until his passing on November 11, 1990.
