273 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND LINTICK, Robert George Robert was born in Linwood, Ontario on December 9, 1909 to George and Margaret Lintick. He had one brother and two sisters. Robert and his wife, Helen, married in 1933 and had two children: Robert Howard and Ray Douglas. Before the war, he spent twelve years with the Scots Fusiliers of Canada and on May 1, 1941, he joined the Army. Sergeant Lintick served in Canada, United Kingdom and Northwest Europe with the Algonquin Regiment during World War II. On September 9, 1944, he was killed during active service and is buried in Grave 8, Row E, Plot 4 in the Adegem CanadianWar Cemetery in Belgium. He is gratefully remembered today as a “Son of Waterloo” and his picture hangs on the Memorial Wall in the City Hall in Waterloo, Ontario. LOGAN, William Muir William was born in Renfrew, Ontario on October 5, 1924. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy on June 16, 1942. He served on HMCS Ottawa (formerly Griffin) H31 which was a G-Class Destroyer and the HMCS Trillium that served mainly as a convoy escort in the Battle of the Atlantic during World War II. Logan’s role during the war was a torpedo loader. The efforts of thousands of sailors, including William Logan, helped to keep the Germans at bay. He was discharged on September 19, 1945. After the war, William married Lona Jean Forgie and settled in his hometown of Renfrew, Ontario. Together they had seven children and enjoyed 66 years of marriage. William began his career as an electrician with Boldt Electric and later Univex Canada. He was also a fifty-year member of the IBEW Union. He enjoyed the outdoors, family and friends. He received a tribute pin certificate in recognition of his service to Canada, marking the 75th anniversary of Canada’s engagement in World War II. William passed away October 25, 2017. LOCKEY, Gordon John Gordon was born in Ingersoll, Ontario on September 29, 1922. He was working as a farmer near Mount Elgin when he enlisted on September 18, 1939. He later confessed that he was only sixteen at the time. He served with the Royal Canadian Regiment during World War II. Gordon was in active service with the First Canadian Division in Italy when he was killed in action on December 9, 1943. At the time, the 1st Division was tasked to cross the Moro River near Ortona, Italy.
