221 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND HORGAN, Robert Terrance Robert was born in Toronto on January 10, 1945. He enlisted in the Navy in September 1964 and served in Canada, Belgium and Germany onboard the HMCS Cornwallis, HMCS Hochelaga, HMCS Stadacona, HMCS Chaudiere and at NATO HQ and Geilenkirchen, Germany. He was discharged in July 1996. After his retirement from the Navy, Robert joined the Commissionaires and served with them for ten years before retiring completely. He is a two-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Col. Fred Tilston V.C. Branch 385 in Aurora, Ontario. HOWELL, Scott Thomas Eugene Scott was born CFB Lahr, Germany on January 16, 1976. He enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces on August 26, 1998 as an Artilleryman. After graduating from QL 3, he was posted to 2nd Regiment Royal Canadian Horse Artillery. While serving with 2 RCHA, he deployed to Turkey in 1999, Bosnia in 2001 and finally toAfghanistan in 2003. In 2006, Scott applied for selection to the Canadian Special Operations Regiment. Upon successfully completion of his Special Operations training later that year, he was posted as a Special Forces Operator. Scott has subsequently participated on numerous operations including two more tours to Afghanistan. In 2013, he was selected to attend the United States Special Operations Command, Senior Enlisted (Sgt Maj) Academy where he graduated with honours. He was subsequently posted to USSOCOM HQ at MacDill AFB in Tampa, Florida from 2015 to 2017. In 2017, he was posted back to CSOR, where he continues to serve today. Scott had the distinct pleasure of serving with his father, CWO Bob Howell (Ret’d) while Bob was a unit RSM in 2CMBG. Scott is married to Tina and they have two daughters. He is a five-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 517 Petawawa. HOWELL, Robert Bruce “Bob” CWO (Retired) Bob Howell was born in Toronto on July 2, 1948. In October 1965, Bob joined the Canadian Army. He completed training with both the Queen’s Own Rifles Depot and the Royal Canadian School of Artillery. He served the Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery in various units to include: 1 and 2 Surface-to- Surface Missile Batteries; 1,2,3,4 Royal Canadian Horse Artillery and the Royal Canadian Artillery School. In 1970, he was deployed to Ottawa in response to the October Crisis and the FLQ. He then went on to serve two tours in Germany and in 1978 he was promoted to Sgt. Bob served on various domestic operations and in 1982 he deployed to Nicosia, Cypress on Operation Snowgoose. Bob was promoted to Warrant Officer in 1984 and attended the Assistant Instructor-in-Gunnery course. In 1993, Master Warrant Officer Bob Howell completed a component transfer to the Reserve Force and joined the 1st Air Defence Regiment (Lanark and Renfrew Scottish) RCA and in 2001 was promoted to Chief Warrant Officer and appointed as Regimental Sergeant Major. In 2003, Bob was invested into the Order of Military Merit. He has served as the President of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 517. Bob is married to Colleen; their son Scott, currently serves as a member of the Canadian Special Operations Regiment.
