217 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND HOGG, Frank Wilkie FrankWilkie Hogg was born inWaterloo, Ontario on February 18, 1891 toWilliam and Beatrice (Ford) Hogg. Frank worked as a bank clerk prior to World War I. He joined the military on January 19, 1916 with the 64th Depot and landed in England on May 7, 1916 and was posted to Shorncliffe to work as a clerk. He was transferred to France on October 25, 1917 and posted to Boulogne. He arrived back to Canada aboard the SS Lapland, landing in Halifax April 12, 1918. He was discharged on February 19, 1919. Frank was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Kitchener Branch 50 andWaterloo Branch 530 for a total of 35 years. Frank passed away on April 4, 1959 and is buried in Woodland Cemetery in Kitchener, Ontario. His name has been inscribed on plaque #1 of theWaterloo Legion Veterans Memorial Wall. HOLLINGSHEAD, Ewart Gladstone Ewart was born in London, England onAugust 24, 1897. He was living in Culloden and employed as a plumber when he chose to enlist with the Canadian Expeditionary Force Oxford’s Own 168th. His older brother enlisted the following month into the same regiment and served in France. While attached to the 18th Battalion, he went missing but was soon changed to Killed in Action. Ewart had been with the Canadian Field Ambulance Corps prior but died in an attack on Hill 70 near Lens, France on August 15, 1917. HOLBECHE, Derek John Derek was born in Ashford, Middlesex, United Kingdom on April 21, 1937. In September 1952, he enlisted with the Army Trade School and graduated into REME in 1955. He was posted to Hong Kong from 1956 to 1959 and to Germany in 1960. He was discharged in April 1964, moved to Canada in 1976 and in the same year he joined The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 244 in Perth, Ontario.
