521 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND ZAVITZ, James Elgin James, son of Joseph and Marilla Zavitz, was born in Bosanquet Township in August 1897. He served in the Army, trained in Canada and served overseas in England and France as Private during World War I. James died in Bramshott, England on January 28, 1919. ZILLICH, John John was born in Toronto, Ontario on January 8, 1934. He enlisted in the Air Force on November 24, 1952. He did basic training at Camp Borden and was stationed in Saskatoon, 406 Squadron, B24 Mitchels Air Frame Technician then was stationed with the 414 Squadron Sabre Jets in Germany. He was discharged on November 23, 1955. John worked at Kelsey-Hayes for 27 years until closure. He drove a bus for ten years for children with Special Needs. ZETTEL, Otto Oscar Otto was born on January 9, 1916 in Wellesley, Ontario. He enlisted on April 6, 1942 in the Royal Canadian Navy Volunteer Reserve. He completed basic training in Esquimalt on Vancouver Island, BC. Otto served on HMCS Rosthern, HMCS Inch Arron, and HMCS Saskatchewan. He sailed on six return trips with Convoys from Nova Scotia or Newfoundland to Ireland as a Stoker P.O. Otto received his discharge from the Navy on December 4, 1945. After the war was over, Otto and his wife Miriam raised six children and for many years managed Zettel Hardware inWellesley. He was a 25-year member of New Hamburg Branch 532 of The Royal Canadian Legion. Otto passed away February 21, 2006.
