491 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND WARD, Thomas “Tom” Thomas was born in Holmside, Co. Durham, England on July 23, 1879. Tom and his family immigrated to Canada in 1921, eventually settling near Niagara-on-the-Lake. He enlisted in the Army on December 6, 1915 and served with the Durham Light Infantry in England and in France. He was discharged on December 4, 1919. During World War II, he was a night watchman on the Welland Canal. For this he received the Certificate of Honour from the Township of Niagara-on-the-Lake. In retirement, he was a successful dog breeder. WARREN, Robert Charles “Bob” Bob was born in Chatham, Ontario on March 23, 1920. He enlisted in the Air Force on June 6, 1940 and served with 408 Squadron, B Flight (Goose) and later the 426 Squadron. He served as Sergeant in charge of the Armament Division in Linton-onOuse, England. His division was responsible for the maintenance of all bombing armaments and turrets. He received a Mention in Dispatches prior to his discharge in 1945. Bob is a 71-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Chatham Branch 642, formerly Branch 28. WARREN, Arthur Gordon Arthur was born on March 31, 1913 in Niagara Falls, Ontario. He enlisted in the Canadian Army in 1940. He served in England, France and Holland during World War II until his discharge in 1947. Arthur married Jennie Hodgkins before service and had five children, twelve grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. He worked as an Auto Mechanic. Arthur passed away on July 12, 1962 and is buried in Riverside Cemetery in Dunnville.
