489 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND WALDEN, Glen McCowan Glen was born in Bosanquet Township, Ontario on September 1, 1908. He was educated at the University of Western Ontario and in 1932 the Chicago School of Dentistry. Glen served as Captain in the USArmy Dental Corp active duty from 1942 to 1946. He served in North Africa, Egypt, Sicily, Rhineland and France and received The American Ribbon, the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 2 Bronze Battle Stars and the Victory Medal. Glen returned home, married and raised a family. Glen passed away on February 23, 2002 and is buried at Pinehill Cemetery in Thedford, Ontario. WARD, Frederick “Fred” Fred was born in Tanfield Plain, Co. Durham, England on February 24, 1908. He signed up during World War II in Hamilton with the 2/10 Dragoons on July 7, 1942. Corporal Ward arrived in England on February 17, 1944. He was transferred to the Algonquin Regiment and arrived in France on July 23, 1944. He served in Canada, England, France and Belgium. Fred was killed in action on September 14, 1944 at the Battle of ‘t Molentje-Moerkerke and is buried in Adegem Canadian Military Cemetery inAdegem, Belgium. He received the 1939-1945 Star, France and Germany Star, War Medal 1939-1945 and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. WARD, Christopher Archibald Christopher was born in Peterborough, Ontario on November 3, 1956. He enlisted in the Army in February 1974 serving with the Hastings and Prince Edward Regiment in Canada. He was discharged on October 25, 1994.
