477 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND THOMSON, Jared B. Jared was born in Fredericton, New Brunswick on November 16, 1987. He enlisted in May 2005 and served as a Communicator Research Operator in 772 Electronic Warfare Squadron in Kingston and 33 Signals Regiment in Ottawa. Jared was discharged in April 2012. THOMSON, Mark William Mark was born in 1953 in Barrie, Ontario. He enrolled in the Canadian Forces on July 28, 1972. He graduated from RMC in 1976 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and reported to the Combat Training Centre in Gagetown, NB. As an Armoured Officer he served in the Lord Strathcona’s Horse Regiment in Calgary until 1980. He completed tours in Lahr, West Germany and the in Cyprus. He was posted to Edmonton, Alberta where he served as a recruiting officer until 1983. In 1984 he was posted to the Combat Training Centre in Gagetown as a Training Development Officer. Selected for Post Graduate Training, he attended Queen’s University in Kingston and graduated with a Masters of Education. He was then posted to the British Army School of Training Support in Beaconsfield, UK. He returned to Borden in 1993 where he held two staff positions and was Commandant for a five year period of the Canadian Forces Training Development Centre. In 2000 he was posted to the Directorate of Army Training in Kingston. He retired with the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel on August 7, 2007 following 35 years of service. He was awarded the Canadian Forces’ Decoration with two Bars, the United Nations Cyprus and Canadian Peacekeeping Service Medals. THOMSON, John John was born on April 4, 1927 in London, England. He enlisted in the Army on April 11, 1945 with the Royal Canadian Dragoons. He was the Regimental Sergeant Major of his unit from 1963 to 1965. He was commissioned and spent the last eighteen years of his service as Captain. He served in Canada, Egypt, Israel and Belgian Congo before his discharge on April 3, 1983. He was awarded the Canadian Forces Decoration and two Bars, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, the War Medal 1939-1945, the CPSM, the UNEF, the ONUC, the UNTSO and the UNDOF medals. John passed away on August 13, 2000.
