475 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND THOMAS, Cyril Cyril was born in Pontypridd, Wales on January 11, 1916. He enlisted in the Territorial Army in 1935 in Wales. Cyril was discharged in 1938 when he enlisted as a Regular in the RAF. He served in the UK and was stationed in North Africa and Italy during World War II. He remained as regular until his discharge in 1947. He settled in England. He married Eileen and had five children. Cyril passed away on May 11, 1985. THOMSON, Bob Bob was born on March 15, 1949 in Pembroke, ON. Bob enlisted in the Air Force on June 15, 1971 in Communication and Electronics. He was posted six times for a total of two and a half years to CFS Alert. He was discharged on January 22, 2004. He was recognized for his active involvement in the Kanata Royal Canadian Legion Branch 638 by the award of a Life Membership. He was awarded the Canadian Decoration with two Bars, the Special Service Bar Alert, the Golden Jubilee and Diamond Jubilee Medals. THOMPSON, Joseph Lewis “Joe” Joe was born in Fredericton, NB on May 27, 1938. He enlisted in the Navy onAugust 27, 1955 to August 27, 1960 and re-enlisted on April 18, 1967 to April 18, 1992. He served in the Communications Intelligence Branch his entire career. He retired as a Chief Petty Officer 2nd Class and was awarded the Military Merit Medal and the Canadian Forces Decoration with one Clasp. He continued to work with the Intelligence Branch for an additional eight years before completely retiring with his family in Ottawa, ON.
