463 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND STEWART (NICHOLS), Marion Rhea Marion was born in London, Ontario on August 9, 1918. She enlisted in the Canadian Women’s Army Corps in January 1944. She received training as a therapist in Verdun, QC and Stratford, ON. After her basic training in Oakville, ON, she was posted to Halifax, NS and eventually shipped overseas in April 1944 onboard the ship Andes. Marion served with #22 Canadian General Hospital in Bramshott, England. As a therapist, she assisted many wounded soldiers get back on their feet. Her medals include the Defence Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp and the War Medal 1939-1945. Marion was discharged at the rank of Lieutenant. After the war, Marion worked as an Occupational Therapist at Parkwood Hospital in London and later became the Administrator at McCormack Nursing Home in London. Marion passed away on March 30, 2018 at the age of 99. STRUGNELL, Arthur Douglas Arthur was born in Hamilton, Ontario on February 28, 1945. He joined the Navy in March 1963. He served on the HMCS Bonaventure and the HMCS Terra Nova in Canada before being discharged in February 1966. He obtained a trade of Electrician and pursued the career in civilian life until his retirement in 2002 at the age of 58. Arthur is a 46-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 123 inWaterford. STINSON, Sanford F. Sanford was born in Rama First Nation on October 25, 1909. He enlisted in the Army with the Sherbrooke Fusiliers, 27th Armoured Regiment, Canadian Armoured Corps. He was killed in action in France on July 8, 1944. Sanford is buried at Beny-Sur Mer Canadian War Cemetery.
