405 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND ROBBINS, Horace William William was born on June 12, 1939 in London, Ontario. He enlisted in the Air Force on March 1, 1957. He served at the CFB Cold Lake. Flight Lieutenant Robbins was flying a CF104 on a training mission out of Cold Lake, Alberta when he disappeared. His plane was not found for four years. He passed away on December 6, 1966. ROBERSON, Warren William “Bill” Bill was born on September 11, 1951 in Hamilton, Ontario. He joined the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry in 1967 and the moved to the regular armed forces in 1969. He served with the 2nd Battalion Guards. He did service on Parliament Hill. Upon disbanding Canadian Guards, Bill moved to the 3rd Battalion, Royal Canadian Regiment and was involved in numerous exercises. He also served in the FLQ Crisis of 1970 stationed at both Ottawa and Montreal during that time. He was discharged on December 30, 1971. Bill married in 1973 and had two daughters and also has one grandson and a granddaughter. Bill worked at Unilever in Toronto as a Packaging Engineer and retired in 2014. He now resides in Ridgeway, Ontario. ROBBINS, Ronald Wray Ronald was born in Simcoe on November 16, 1926. Ronald, who is known by Wray, has been an active Royal Canadian Legion Member and very involved with the Legion activities. He has always and continues to be, even at his age of 91, an active volunteer within the community. He has received many awards for his volunteerism, since returning. He is well known in his town for helping others, either through the Legion or on his own accord. He feels that he wants to help others because of his service and knowing that freedom is a gift and not a right. He served in World War II from 1943 to 1946 and also in Korea from 1951 to 1953, in the Royal Canadian Engineers. He also received the following medals: 1939-1945 Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, the Defence Medal and Queen’s Jubilee. He has been a Royal Canadian Legion member of Branch 230 in Ridgeway for thirty years.
