393 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND PYM, Albert Edward Albert was born onAugust 23, 1891 in Frisby on the Wreake, Leicestershire, England to William and Ruth (Dakin) Pym. While living in Waterloo, Ontario, Albert joined the military in 1914 with the 118th Battalion. He sailed to England on January 23, 1917 aboard the SS Scandinavian. Albert married Thirza Evelyn Garner on November 10, 1923. He was a long-time Royal Canadian Legion member, finishing his service with the Waterloo Branch 530. He died in 1976. Albert Pym’s name is listed on the Plaque #1 of the Waterloo Legion’s Veteran Memorial Wall. QUINN, Manley Joseph Manley was born in Markdale, Ontario on June 6, 1922. He enlisted in the Army in May 1940. Manley was the youngest member of his unit when he signed up with the 97th Battery in Listowel, ON. He trained at Petawawa, Tracadie and Sussex, New Brunswick. In France, in August 1944 he received injuries while going up to the front in a jeep. A shell hit the gas tank and started a fire. Manley received burns on chest, legs and arms. He recovered in Hospital in England and returned to duty. He was discharged in 1945 having served in England, France and Germany during World War II. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Markdale Branch. Manley passed away on July 21, 1980. QUESNEL (COPLAND), Cathleen Joanne Cathleen was born in Moncton, New Brunswick on March 22, 1963. She enlisted in the Army on November 6, 1986. She served from 1987 to 1992 with 1 Svc Bn Calgary Supply PIT, from 1992 to 1996 at MTSC Meaford, from 1996 to 2000 at CFB St. Jean and from 2000 to 2005 in Borden. She was discharged on March 17, 2005. Cathleen received the Canadian Forces’ Decoration Medal. She now works as a paralegal. Cathleen is a five-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Riverside Branch 255 in Windsor.
