391 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND PRIEUR, Joseph Vincent Joseph was born on August 30, 1924 in Windsor, Ontario. He enlisted in the Navy in 1941. He severed during World War II in Canada and on the High Seas. He was discharged in 1945. In civilian life, he worked for Ford Motor Company as well as Pittsburgh Paints and Fabricated Steel. He raised five girls and was married for 72 years. Joseph was a 39-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 255 in Windsor. He passed away on November 27, 2016. PROUD, Russel Fawcett Russel was born on November 14, 1922 in Arran Township, Ontario. He enlisted in the RCAF on September 1, 1942. Trained as fighter pilot, Russel was reassigned as a bomber pilot to 432 Squadron, #6 Bomber Group. His first flight over enemy territory was on Christmas Eve, 1944. By Easter Sunday 1945 he had flown 32 more missions over Germany. Flight Lieutenant Proud was the first Arran Township pilot to return home. He was discharged in September 1945. Russel became a medical doctor in 1953. He joined his Uncle, Dr. Harvey Proud, wounded in World War I, in Flat Rock, Michigan. He married Robin Klaehn on October 31, 1954. They had four children: Robert, Melanie, Dulce and Mary. After his divorce Russel married Pat Jolley in April 1976 adopting her three children, Paul, Jatawne and Charlie. Russel passed away on March 3, 2014 in Flat Rock, Michigan. He is buried in Hillcrest Cemetery, Tara. PROCTER, Charles Gordon Charles was born in Morris Township, Ontario on October 2, 1923. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force on June 19, 1943 and served during World War II in Canada and overseas in England until his discharge on May 10, 1946. He is a 46year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Brussels Branch 218.
