353 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND MOORE, Cecil A. J. Cecil was born in Cooksville, Ontario on December 21, 1925. He enlisted in the Navy in April 1944. He served as a Ship’s Cook doing his basic training in HMCS Hunter in Windsor, cooks training in HMCS Cornwallis in Nova Scotia, and served on HMS Puncher as a cook. HMS Puncher converted to troopship and carried troops from Scotland to Halifax. Cecil also cooked on HMCS Portage tied up in Halifax. He was discharged on April 9, 1946. Cecil is a 35-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Brussels Branch 218. MOORE, William B. William was born in Gooderich Township, Huron County, Ontario on February 20, 1912. He enlisted in the Army on January 10, 1944 and served in Canada with the No. 1 District Depot during World War II. He completed basic training and advance training as an Artilleryman and qualified as Driver Mechanic Group C. He was discharged on November 21, 1945. William was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and the War Medal 1939-1945. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Goderich Branch 109. William passed away March 17, 1987. MOORE, Scott William James Joseph Scott was born November 20, 1926 in Windsor, Ontario but grew up in Ottawa, ON. He first joined the military on June 2, 1944 until December 5, 1944 when his mother found out that he had enlisted by lying about his age. He rejoined on August 14, 1950 and was attached to the 2nd Battalion Princess Patricia Canadian Light Infantry. While stationed in Korea during 1951 he was part of the action near Kapyong in April of that year. For this hard fought battle he was awarded the Korean Star and also the UN Medal from the Secretary of the United States Army. He retired from the military in the summer of 1970 and then worked for the Town of Oakville Ontario until retirement. Scott passed away on November 16, 2007. He was a Royal Canadian Legion member in Oakville, ON.
