335 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND McKELLAR, Donald Arthur “Don” Donald was born in Bosanquet Township, near Thedford, Ontario on October 20, 1923, the son of Walker and Lillian McKellar. He enlisted in the Army in December 1942 and went overseas in 1943 with the Algonquin Regiment. Don was killed in action on August 9, 1944 in France with his friend Ross Borthwick, from the Thedford area. He is buried in Bretteville-sur-Laize, France. He was 21 years old. McKITTRICK, Edward David “Eddy” Eddy was born on September 8, 1918 in Carleton Place, Ontario. He left school after finishing Grade 8 and assumed gainful employment locally to support himself. He enlisted in the Canadian Armoured Corp in Ottawa, Ontario on August 10, 1941. After training a number of locations he became qualified as a driver of wheeled and track vehicles. He embarked for overseas landing in England in March 1942. He was involved in a number of Special Assignments during his time in England before embarking for the Central Mediterranean area in June 1943 as part of the 11th Army Tank Regiment. In late 1944, he suffered a non-lethal injury and was evacuated to England in late February 1945. Once he was released from hospital he was reassigned to another unit of the Canadian Army until he embarked for Canada. He was discharged in July 1945. He resumed employment, married and became a member of the local Legion. He passed away on July 24, 1988. McKELLAR, Wilfred Donald Wilfred was born in Bosanquet Township, Thedford, Ontario on May 19, 1897. He enlisted in the Army in 1914, he was underage. Wilfred serviced with the 149th Battalion, 4th Canadian Machine Gun. He was a cook in the army. When he was discharge, he married Isabelle Fleming and they raised two children. Wilfred owned and operated a butcher shop, later employed at Ipperwash Pump House (near Camp Ipperwash). Wilfred passed away on March 1, 1968.
