333 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND McKEE, Robert Alexander Robert was born in Kingsville, Ontario on April 22, 1940, the second son of William and Dorothy McKee. He grew up in Leamington where he attended school. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy in February 1959 at HMCS Hunter. After basic, he joined HMCS Huron as a stoker. In 1960, he transferred to Radioman Special and at Gloucester, Churchill, Coverdale, Inuvik, Alert, Leitrim, Bermuda and ships Restigouche and Chaudière. In 1976, he transferred to Photo Tech and served at CFB Rockcliffe, Uplands and Summerside where he retired as Sergeant in 1988. He returned to Leamington with his wife Heather and daughter Sharon. He joined the Windsor Militia District HQ as a PR photographer in 1990 and ended his military career in 1996. He has been a Royal Canadian Legion Member for 59 years and served in many positions including President of Branch 84 Leamington and Zone A2 Commander and is currently Zone Chairman. On Branch 84 closing, he transferred to Wheatley Branch 234 and is their Poppy Chairman. McKEE, William Thomas “Tommy” Tommy was born in Windsor, Ontario on December 5, 1935, the first son of William and Dorothy McKee. They moved to Kingsville, ON in 1936 and then to Leamington, ON in 1940. He attended elementary and high school in Leamington. He joined the Canadian Army in January 1953 and served with the Victoria Rifles and the Queen’s Own Rifles 2nd Battalion as an anti-tank gunner. He was featured on a recruiting pamphlet while stationed in Wainwright, Alberta. He attained the rank of Corporal. He was released in January 1958 and returned to Leamington where he married Irene “Mable” Saunders. He worked as a stevedore and for many years for Brewers Retail. He was a Life Member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 84 and served many years as Sergeant-at-Arms. William passed away in 1996 at the age of sixty. McKEE, William Mulhulland “Fibber” William was born on April 9, 1912 in Belfast, Ireland. He came to Canada in 1929 with his mother, four sisters and one brother, settling first in Montreal and then in Windsor, Ontario where he met and wed his wife Dorothy Whitson. He moved to Kingsville with his wife and first son about 1936. In 1939, he enlisted in the Essex Scottish Regiment, serving in England and France during World War II. While undergoing training, his second son, Robert, was born. He was discharged in the summer of 1945. He was a long-time employee of the Leamington Royal Canadian Legion Branch 84 and was a Life Member. William passed away on April 9, 2000, his 88th birthday.
