321 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND McCORMICK, Daniel Kevin Daniel was born on October 10, 1942 in Ottawa, Ontario. He enlisted in the USArmy Medical Corps on November 21, 1962 as a medic. He was discharged in 1965 having served in the US and Germany. McCRACKEN, Dustin Ronald Dustin was born in Listowel, Ontario on September 20, 1979. He joined the 4RCR reserves in 1997 through a co-op program at Listowel District Secondary School. He later joined the Regular Forces and trained to be a weapon technician with the Corps of RCEME. He has served in Bosnia in 2001 as well as Afghanistan in 2008 to 2009 where he was attached to the Lord Strathcona’s Horse ‘A’ Squadron. Throughout his career he had helped with floods, ice storms and fires across Canada. Dustin is a tenyear member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 307 in Gorrie. McCORMICK, Francis Xavier Francis was an Ojibway born on January 1, 1918 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. He enlisted in the Canadian Army (Active) on January 18, 1944 in Toronto, ON and served with the Royal Canadian Engineers. On completion of his recruit training, Francis was transferred to Chilliwack, BC to complete his trades training as an engineer. He learned how to build bridges and drive trucks. The Engineers were known for building the Bailey Bridges. Francis eventually was shipped overseas to England and served in France, Germany, Belgium and Holland. His medals include the France and Germany Star, the Defence Medal and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp. Francis was discharged on July 25, 1946 at the rank of Trooper. After the war, he worked at St. Mary’s residential school in Spanish, ON and eventually was employed with the Ministry of Transportation retiring in 1973. Francis passed away on May 24, 1990.
