297 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND MacAULAY, William William was born in Scotland on May 26, 1933. He enlisted in the Royal Air Force on August 12, 1953 with the 234 (F SQDN). He served in England, Germany, Cyprus and Holland until his discharge on August 28, 1955. He has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Coronation Branch 286 in Toronto for 46 years. MacDONALD, James James was born on February 12, 1894 in Glasgow, Scotland. He immigrated to Canada in 1912 and joined the 55th Battalion of the CEF in April 1915. He served on the front lines with the 14th Battalion Royal Montreal Regiment where he received shrapnel wounds in May 1916. James also participated in the Battle of the Somme where he was shot in the legs during an attack around Courcelette in late September 1916. He was transferred to the 1st Canadian Machine Gun Battalion in May 1918. James fought in the Battle of Amiens in August 1918 and was wounded at the Battle of Arras later that month - receiving a gunshot wound to the chest. He did not recover from that wound until after the war was over. While James was overseas his family moved to Toronto and after his discharge he moved there. He was employed by the TTC and on April 22, 1924 he married Emily Ruth Kirk. They had three daughters, eleven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. Emily passed on August 17, 1970 and James passed on May 17, 1983 at Sunnybrook Hospital. MacDONALD, Floyd Floyd was born in Canfield, Ontario on April 6, 1938. He enlisted in the Army with the 1st Canadian Guard. Floyd trained in Petawawa. He served in Germany, Cyprus and Russia as Machine Gunner and Truck Driver. He played hockey in Berlin with Russia as a Peacekeeper. He was the Guard of Honour for the Queen. After his discharge in 1962 he became a bartender in Kingston, ON. Then Floyd made trucking his career. He is a 47-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 142 in Dunnville.
