281 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND LATAM, Lloyd Gordon Lloyd was born on May 31, 1920 in Leamington, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army on March 12, 1942. From April 21, 1942 to October 1943, he served with the Scots Fusiliers and from October 1943 until his discharge he served with the PEI Highlanders as a rifleman. He served 36 months in Canada and eleven months in the United Kingdom and Northwest Europe during World War II. After being discharged from the Army on February 8, 1946, he bought a farm near Comber, Ontario where he farmed until his death on June 23, 1960. LECRAW, John Everson John was born in Toronto on June 8, 1922. He joined the Army in 1942. He trained on tanks and armoured vehicles in Camp Borden, ON. He was shipped to England on the Queen Elizabeth out of NewYork. He joined the Canadian Grenadier Guards, 22 Armoured Regiment in Brighton, England. The Guards a front line tank regiment saw action from Juno Beach to Oldenberg, Germany, helping to liberate Europe. John was a Humber Armoured Car driver and still visits Holland to celebrate their liberation parades. On his return home to Norland, Ontario in 1946, he became involved in printing weekly newspapers. He owned and operated his own print shop until his retirement in 1990. In Norland, he joined the volunteer fire department and also served on several boards such as cemetery and Norland Water Works. He has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion for over seventy years. LAWRIE, George George was born in Toronto, Ontario on May 10, 1924. He enlisted in the Navy in April 1943. He served on the HMS Puncher on the Coast of Norway during World War II. George was discharged in July 1945.
