263 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND JOLLEY, James Albert “Jim” Jim was born in Montreal, Quebec on August 15, 1924. He joined HMCS Montreal on May 11, 1943 and served with the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve on “Cornwallis” and the Caribou out of Halifax until his discharge from service on October 27, 1945. He returned to Ontario, where he married Sarah Blick and raised a family. He served a full career with the Ontario Provincial Police, concurrently serving an additional two years withAlgonquin Regiment, RCAC from 1961 to 1963. He was awarded the Long Service Medals for policing and the Order of St. John’s Medal for community work. Jim enjoyed a full retirement near family and passed away on May 4, 2013. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 23 in North Bay for 23 years. JOYNER, Leight Mackenzie “Mac” Leight was born in Hamilton, Ontario on May 24, 1923. He enlisted in the Air Force on December 27, 1941 with the 101st Squadron. He served in the European Campaign as a Navigator/Bombardier duringWorldWar II. He was discharged in October 1945. Leight is a 35-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 266 in Toronto. JOLLEY, Sarah Elizabeth “Sally” Sarah was born in Glen Williams, Ontario on May 6, 1922. She enlisted as a WREN with the Women’s Royal Canadian Service, HMCS Byton Division 11, on January 7, 1943. Sally trained and served as a messenger at HMCSYork, HMCS NIOBE and the UK. She returned to Canada and was discharged from service onAugust 16, 1945. She married James Jolley in Georgetown, ON. He joined the OPP and raised a family, living in various locations including a long tenure in the northern Ontario. She was very gifted and enjoyed a lengthy retirement near family, subsequently passing away on October 24, 2008. She was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 23 in North Bay for eighteen years.
