259 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND JANISSE, Maurice Thomas Maurice was born in Windsor, Ontario on December 29, 1925. He enlisted in the Navy on June 21, 1944 and served in Canada and on the High Seas as Able Seaman. He served aboard the minesweeper HMCS Milltown during World War II. He completed one escort voyage across the North Atlantic from Canada to Scotland. He was medically released after fifteen months of service. After his release, he became a successful salesman in the United States. Maurice passed away on June 27, 2014 in Windsor. JARVIS, Mary Buchan Mary was born in Toronto, Ontario on February 21, 1924. She enlisted in the Army on August 20, 1942. She served in England as a Driver/Ambulance (Blitz Buggy) Driver in England during World War II. She was discharged in April 1946. JARDINE, John Richardson John was born in St. Catharines, Ontario on May 1, 1924. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force on December 11, 1942. He served in England during World War II as an Armourer. When WWII was over he signed up to go to the Pacific and fortunately by the time he was returned to Canada that war was over. John was discharged on April 9, 1945. He was an employee at Bell Canada for 38 years and a member of the Bell Pioneers. He was a Life Member of his Legion Branch and served for over 25 years as a member of their Colour Party. He always joked he won the war as he was on the last troop ship to England and on the first to return and when they heard he signed up for the Pacific they gave up. He belonged to the Jardine Clan Society of Ontario until it folded. His family motto was ‘Beware, I am here’. John passed away on October 26, 2003.
