209 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND GREGORY, William William was born in Lancashire, England on March 18, 1879. He enlisted in the Army on March 15, 1916 and served with the Cape Breton Highlanders 185th Overseas Battalion CEF as a L/Cpl. He took a voluntary demotion to Private and served with the 25th Nova Scotia Regiment. He served in France and Belgium during World War I. He was injured on August 16, 1917 in Passchendaele, Belgium and died from his wounds. GRIMARD, Yves Paul-Emile Yves was born in Victoriaville, Quebec on October 12, 1952. He joined the Air Force on August 25, 1970. After graduating from CMR and RMC, Yves commenced his career as an Air Navigator and after a short time changed to Logistics Finance. Yves was awarded the Canadian Forces Decoration and Clasp. He was discharged in June 1, 1993. Yves has been a Royal Canadian Legion member of the Kanata Branch 638 for 24 years. GREY, George George was born in Newcastle-on-Tyne, England on August 17, 1911. He emigrated from Newcastle-on-Tyne to Canada in 1927. He enlisted in the Canadian Army on July 26, 1940, training in England as a cook until disembarking in France on July 18, 1944, then to Belgium, Netherlands and Germany. George served with the 6th LAA Regiment, the 2 Canadian Artillery Regiment and with 7 Anti-Tank Regiment. At the end of the war in May 1945, he remained in Holland and Germany in the occupation force. During that time, he married a Dutch war bride and had a son, before returning to Cobourg, Ontario in December 1946. After the return to Canada, they had a daughter. He continued to serve in the Royal Canadian Artillery 133 Medium Regiment for many years. George passed away on August 17, 1988.
