487 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND WYATT, Harold Sydney Harold was born in Toronto, Ontario on April 14, 1920. He enlisted in the Army on February 6, 1943. He served in the United Kingdom, the Central Mediterranean Area, North Africa and Italy during World War II. He was a Gunner. Harold was wounded in action on December 8, 1944. He was married with one child at the time. He received the 1939-1945 Star, the Italy Star, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp and the War Medal 1939-1945. Harold was discharged on July 12, 1945. YOUNG, James James was born on May 21, 1919 outside of Madoc at Crookston, Ontario. He had five brothers and one sister. He served in the Army during World War II with the Hastings and Prince Edward Regiment. He was killed in action during the Battle of Moro River in Italy on December 24, 1943. YATES, Ross Allen Ross was born in Sarnia, Ontario on November 16, 1913. He enlisted in the Navy on September 24, 1940 and served onboard the HMAMC Rajputana, HMCS Red Deer, HMCS Hallowell and HMCS Chicoutmi during World War II. He served on the High Seas from the Artic to the Caribbean. He was aboard the armed merchant cruiser “Rajputana” when it was torpedoed in April 1941 with a loss of forty lives. His service records indicate that of the 1789 days Yates was in the Navy, 1411 of them were spent at sea on convoy duty. Ross was discharged on August 17, 1945. He was a member of the Legion in Windsor. Ross passed away on November 13, 1959.
