469 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND WESLEY, Milton Floyd Milton was born in 1910. He enlisted in the Army on April 13, 1942 and served with the QYR (TFD) QOREC with the rank of RFMM. He served in Continental Europe and the United Kingdom during World War II. He was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp, the 1939-1945 Star and the France and Germany Star. He was discharged on August 17, 1945. He was a woodworker. He never married and donated many years to his Legion in Newmarket. He was Branch President from 1957 to 1961. Milton was honoured for his hard work and dedication by the naming of Branch 426 – The Royal Canadian Legion Milton Wesley Branch 426. Milton passed away on January 22, 1998. WHITE, Cecil Joseph Cecil was born in River Hebert, Nova Scotia on September 20, 1926. He enlisted in the Army on March 24, 1945 during World War II with the R.C.C.S. in Halifax where he was ranked as a Signalman. He was discharged from the Canadian Army to return to Civil Life “on demobilization” after V.J. Day on September 22, 1945. Cecil passed away on March 27, 2010. WETTLAUFER, Ivan David Ivan was born in Normanby Township, Ontario on August 29, 1924. He was one of fourteen children and worked on the family farm. He served during World War II as a rifleman with the Winnipeg Light Infantry from June 30, 1943 to April 10, 1944 and enlisted on April 11, 1944. On August 17, 1944 while fighting in France with the Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders; Ivan was wounded in the battle Closing of the Falaise Gap. He was evacuated to hospital in England; he worked as a switchboard operator until the end of the war. Ivan was discharged on April 8, 1946. After returning to Hanover, Ivan married Ester Willfang and together they raised three sons. Ivan was employed as a truck driver with New Life Mills, Wittich’s Bakery, and later worked at Hanover and District Hospital as their maintenance man until he retired. He was a proud member of the Hanover Legion Branch 130. Ivan passed away on September 26, 2001.
