465 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND WALSH, William Anthony “Bill” Bill was born on May 21, 1909 in Blackburn, Lancashire, England. He enlisted in the Canadian Army (Active) on November 16, 1942 as an Infantryman. After completion of basic and advanced trades training at Woodstock, Listowel and Ipperwash, ON, he was shipped overseas. He served in England with the #3 Canadian Infantry Reinforcement Unit for 32 months and was employed as a Batman. Bill returned to Canada onboard the HMS Queen Elizabeth and was discharged on March 12, 1946 at the rank of Private. His medals include the Defence Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp and the War Medal 1939-1945. Bill passed away on February 5, 1985. He was a member of the Ailsa Craig Legion. WARD, Graham James E. Graham was born on December 17, 1926 at the Women’s College Hospital in Toronto, ON. He enlisted in the Army in March 1945 during World War II. He was discharged in September 1945 without going overseas. He was attached to Canadian Infantry Corps Volunteer Service. When he returned home, he was employed at Avro Aircraft in Malton and worked on the ‘Avro Arrow’ project. Graham married Betty Thomas in 1955 and they had three children Kent, Lynn and Paul. Graham passed away on April 6, 2015. He was a member of the Legion in Alton, Ontario. WALTON, Curtis John Curtis was born in Owen Sound on August 4th, 1982 to George and Karla Walton and attended West Hill Secondary School in Owen Sound where he took a Co-op with the Grey and Simcoe Foresters on February 28, 2000. In 2001 he attended St. Lawrence College in Kingston and transferred to the Princess of Wales Regiment until 2005 when he transferred from the primary reserves to the Regular Force as a Sonar Operator and was posted to CFB Esquimalt for trade training. Upon completion he was posted to HMCS Montreal at CFB Halifax where he conducted anti-drug trafficking operation in the Caribbean as well as sovereignty patrols on the Eastern/Northern coastline of Canada. In 2009 Curtis completed Military Police training at CF Military Police Academy at CFB Borden and was subsequently posted to CFB Petawawa. He provided security during the 2010 Vancouver Olympics in Vancouver. In 2011, he received an OPP Commissioner’s Commendation for an incident he responded to while off duty in Petawawa, he was commended for his public spirited actions. Curtis was transferred to the 13 MP Flight in 2015 where he conducted ground security for the Governor General in 2016. In 2017 Curtis was deployed on Operation Reassurance providing security in Iceland. He is currently posted in Dundurn, Saskatchewan where he resides with his wife Samantha and their two children.
