443 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND TESKEY, Lloyd C. Lloyd was born in Ravensview, Ontario on March 12, 1914. He married Emma Kellestine. On June 12, 1940 Lloyd enlisted in the Army in St. Thomas, Ontario where he became part of the Elgin Regiment. On August 20, 1942 Lloyd was on board the Awatea out of Halifax harbour when the ship was in a collision and so having to return to Halifax, fortunate that no one was injured. During his time in the Army with the 1st Canadian Tank Delivery Regiment, he served in Africa, England, Italy, Sicily, Belgium and Holland during World War II. Lloyd was honourably discharged on October 16, 1945 with the rank of Corporal, receiving the following medals: 1939-1945 Star, Italy Star, France and Germany Star, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, the Defence Medal and War Medal 1939-1945. Lloyd passed away on April 5, 1988. THOMAS, Charles Ernest Charles was born on January 17, 1884 in Nashville, Ontario, Vaughan Township. He enlisted in the Army on January 15, 1915 during World War I and served in France and England building trenches. He received the Royal Canadian T.O. Engineers Medal, The Great War for Civilization Medal and the British War Medal 1914-1918. He was discharged on February 5, 1919. Charles married in 1925 to Isabella Nattress. They farmed and had five children. Charles passed away on February 10, 1962. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion in Bolton, Ontario. THOM, John Alexander “Sandy” John, also known as Sandy, was born on July 14, 1931 in Brandon, Manitoba. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy in February 1949 serving five years on the High Seas and Canada. He served on the Nadon, the Ontario, the Nonsuch and the Sioux during the Korean War. He joined the Legion at Branch 003 in Brandon and later with Branch 244 in Thompson, MB and is presently a Life Member of Branch 503 Onaping Falls, Ontario.
